soybean oil is ok).

Bud was not with us.
Since a friend with allergies (above)
ate here successfully, I decided to
check it out while I was in Miami.  I
talked to the manager, James, and he
assured me that they deal with food
allergies at least once a month.  Bud
was not with us, but we stayed for
dinner to review the service.  The
waiter was professional and pleasant.
He seemed to be familiar with food
allergies and felt confident that the
kitchen staff would continue to
successfully serve patrons with food
allergies.

This is a large organic grocery store.
Lots of good stuff from "the grocery
list" just like the Whole Foods back
home.

Bud was not with us on this trip.  Our
room and stay were terrific.  The room
came with a small refrigerator (no
freezer) and the hotel has several
microwaves available upon request
for special circumstances.  The front
desk suggested that we call the hotel
directly to reserve a microwave at the
time we make our room reservation.

Bud was not with us.  We got a good
feeling from this place.  We talked to
Jessica.  They handle food allergies
regularly.  Jessica told us a story from
the previous evening.  In a party of
20, there was one person with a milk
allergy and 6 individuals who were
allergic to seafood (Nemo is a
seafood restaurant!).  She told us that
everyone went home happy at the
end of the evening.

Bud was not with us, but he loves
sushi, so we stopped here and spoke
to the head chef for him.  He said they
can safely feed a patron with food
allergies.  If someone is not allergic
to seafood, it's usually safer and
easier to order from the sushi bar.
Orders from the kitchen are trickier,
but he is willing to work with patrons
to see what they can safely eat.

Bud was not with us.  We ate lunch
here and then discussed their ability
to serve patrons with food allergies
with both the waiter and the
manager.
Miguel, our waiter, was professional
and attentive during our lunch.
Afterwards, he was happy to let us
talk to Chris, the manager.
The kitchen uses a separate clean
pan for food allergy orders.  They
encourage patrons with food
allergies to communicate with both
the wait staff and the manager.

Bill and I ate here for lunch and then
discussed food allergies with the
waiter.  He said their chefs are
educated to handle food allergies, and
they occasionally have patrons who
have special dietary requests
regarding food allergies.
Devitos was directly across the street
from the Marriott where we stayed.

If the hotel didn't have a microwave
available, K Mart is an easy place to
pick one up for short money.  It was a
20 minute drive from The Marriott
South Beach.  The location is
convenient, on the way from the
airport to Miami Beach.  They also
have a grocery department where I
found Formula 409, Lysol Wipes,
water, cereal, Healthy Choice Chicken
with Rice soup, Hormel Compleats,
Dinty Moore Beef Stew, Swanson
Chicken Breast,  and LaChoy Chicken
Chow Mein with Vegetables, Sauce
and Chicken (msg in the chicken).
I bought some mini saltines but they
tasted like they were stale.

There was a Winn-Dixie grocery store
and Walgreens in the same plaza.

This is a full sized grocery store.  I
found
many items that are on our
usual grocery list:
Dinty Moore beef stew
Hormel Compleats
Healthy Choice Mixers
Healthy Choice chicken with rice soup
Underwood deviled ham
Underwood white meat chicken
spread

We actually picked up the car at the
Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood airport and
eventually dropped it off at the Avis
location on Collins Ave. at Miami
Beach, which was very convenient.
We considered a taxi, but it was a nice
day, so we walked the 2 miles back to
the hotel.
My tourist guide recommended NOT
having a car while in Miami Beach, so
we dropped it off as soon as we were
done doing the research for this
website.
The car was clean when we picked it
up and the Avis employees were
courteous at both locations.  The
price seemed reasonable.
In case of food allergy fingerprint
concern, I could have wiped down the
steering wheel, etc. with Lysol wipes.
I usually have CVS individual hand
wipes in my bag to wipe things like
steering wheels, etc.  I'm not sure if
they budge stubborn finger prints like
nut oil, but they seem good for
general clean up.

Bud was not with us.
We stayed here for just one night at
the end of our trip.  This place is fairly
new.  It had a nice kitchenette with
refrigerator, microwave, cooktop and
sink
It seemed clean, but I have one  food
allergy caveat.  There was a display of
items for sale in the living room and
some of the candy bars (snickers,
M&M's, milky way) contained nuts.  I
also saw Famous Amos chocolate chip
cookies and white cheddar popcorn.
Because of the art deco style, the
lighting seemed dim for my aging eyes
and there was construction across the
street.
