After dinner, I talked to Maxwell, the
manager. He said they often serve
people with food allergies. The menu
states that they also accommodate
gluten free diets as well as
vegetarians. Maxwell explained that
they cook the gluten free/egg free
pasta (made from brown rice) in the
microwave so that it will not be
contaminated from other pasta that
has been boiled in one of the pots. He
told me that several of their sauces
are free from milk, egg, and nuts. The
chefs are accustomed to preparing
meat/fish in a clean pan for patrons
with food allergies. He also mentioned
that he has a family member with celiac
disease, so he understands the need
for a special diet.

This place was very busy on a Sunday
night at 6:30 p.m. They have another
location in Hermosa, CA.

This is a charming hotel but the
scented candles in the lobby
aggravated my sinuses. Also, the hall
on the ninth floor had an aroma that
added to the aggravation. The room
was clean.

Room 738 was comfortable and clean
with an ocean view from the balcony.
There was a mini bar refrigerator
stocked with soda, water, red bull and
alcoholic beverages. See the FA2GO
Facebook page to see a photo of the
contents of the refrigerator and
pictures of the snack tray in the room.
The snacks included cans of nuts,
Pringles, Sour Cream Pringles, M &M’
s, Kit Kat bar, Famous Amos chocolate
chip cookies, and pretzels
manufactured in a facility that
processes nuts.

The complimentary body moisturizer
contained almond oil extract and
jajoba oil extract.

For dinner, I ordered scrambled eggs
well done. When they arrived at the
table, they were still moist so I sent
them back. Our waiter, Chris, was
happy to oblige. They returned just
the way I like them.
After dinner, I talked to Aaron, the
manager. I asked him about food
allergies and told him I was concerned
about the many cheese and egg
products that were on the menu. He
told me that they have had a few
customers with dairy allergy and
served them without any problems.
They handle numerous gluten free
requests on a regular basis. He
explained that the chefs know how to
separate the allergic patron’s food
from allergens in the kitchen. He
used the example that the chef would
clean off a section of the grill to make
sure there wasn’t any residue left
from a cheeseburger prior to cooking
my son’s food.

Aaron stressed that the food allergic
patron needs to be very clear with
their server about their food
allergies. I personally am going to tell
my son to ask for the manager. (That
is what I usually tell him).
