This review shared by Ann. While we were waiting for our table, I had an opportunity to speak with Jennifer, the owner. She told me that they typically serve ten or so patrons with food allergies on a busy night. Of the ten, a few of the food allergic patrons will have very serious food allergies. Noon Hill Grill is a family friendly restaurant and she decided a couple of years ago that they needed to be food allergy friendly. All of the servers, including the bar tenders, are trained in the food allergy protocol. All servers will involve the manager when a patron reveals their food allergies. The chef, John Radcliffe, is very careful not to cross-contaminate ingredients when cooking for food allergic patrons. All of their meals are made from scratch and John is happy to custom cook a meal for a food allergic patron. For example, if you want fries but are allergic to something that has cross-contaminated the fryer, John will make you fries in a clean pan with fresh oil. Jennifer stressed that it is very important that patrons discuss their food allergies in detail with their server before placing an order. The servers need to know the severity of the food allergies, so it's important to let it be known that you cannot tolerate any cross-contamination if that is your situation. They see many return patrons with food allergies, because they have a reputation for doing their best to keep them safe. |
